Old Town, the nation’s longest-running canoe and kayak manufacturer, is hitting the road with the Power to the People ePDL+ Demo tour. Over the next three months, the Old Town team is hosting more than 30 events across the country, providing an opportunity to demo the all-new Old Town Sportsman BigWater ePDL+ 132 before it becomes available later this year.
“This first-of-its-kind fishing kayak provides unparalleled versatility by combining manual pedal propulsion, power-assisted pedal, and fully motorized cruise control,” says Ryan Lilly, Johnson Outdoors Watercraft Brand Evangelist. “This watercraft is unlike anything else on the market and offers a fully unique on-water experience. What better way to ‘get it’ than experiencing it for yourself? Hence our decision to embark on a nationwide tour, bringing the power to the people!”
The public is invited to join Old Town at one of 30 different event locations across the country to learn about the newest addition to the Sportsman Line, try out the ePDL+ drive, and receive free Old Town apparel. In addition to on-water time with the BigWater ePDL+ 132, event sites will offer opportunities to gain experience with additional Sportsman Line kayaks, from paddle and pedal options to fully motorized kayaks like the AutoPilot and 106 Powered by Minn Kota.
Participants will be among the first to experience the patented ePDL+ drive system, which allows kayakers to seamlessly switch between manual pedal, power-assisted pedal, or fully motorized cruise control. Much like an e-bike, the ePDL+ drive provides a new experience for people to explore and experience the outdoors. Because the fully integrated ePDL+ drive augments human power with five levels of motor-assist or fully motorized modes, anglers and on-water enthusiasts alike will have the confidence to go farther, exploring new and different waters.
