The lowest common denominators to landing a fish comes down to the line and the hook. Back a few years, maybe more than a few, we used a 5 and 1/2 foot pistol grip rod and had gear ratio reels that were high speed at 5.3:1. We still caught fish but missed a pile of them as well. Not anymore.
Today’s equipment is state of the art and the space-age materials they are made from make them lighter and stronger. The hooks are now a differentiator too. They are much better.
