Wired2Fish intern and accomplished high school angler Kobie Koenig relies on jigs to catch bass pretty much everywhere and believes fall rate have a big impact on success. Kobie discusses why and how he reduces jig fall rates by changing or modifying trailers instead of retying on a different jig altogether.
High skies and flat calm summer conditions usually push bass deeper while making them more lethargic and unwilling to chase. A lighter head size coupled with a hi-resistance trailer reduces fall rate and forces you to slow down. This, in turn, keeps the jig in the bite window longer and coaxes bites.
