Bass pro James Watson loves fishing a spoon for bass, and if the water is too low to fish docks, he focuses his spoon fishing efforts on bridges. Bridges hold fish year-round, making them a location always worth a look. Few baits trigger bass as well or fish as efficiently around bridge pilings as fast sinking flutter spoons.
Watson shares some pointers on where to target bass around the pilings as well as the type of rod, reel and line to handle heavy spoons. Lastly, he provides some guidance on how to select the right size/weight of the spoon based on bass location along the vertical structure. In general, fish lighter spoons for shallower, suspended bass and go heavier for deeper bass relating to the base of pilings or in deeper water situations.
